§ 6-20. Definitions

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Access roads means the 20-foot-wide areas through the property adjacent to the airport used for vehicle access to the airport, runway, hangars, tie-down areas, and taxiways.

    Airport manager means a citizen of the City of Granite Shoals, appointed by the city council and designated as supervisor of the airport and its operation and answerable to the city manager.

    Fixed base operations (FBO) means a commercial business associated with the sale, service or repair of aircraft.

    Granite Shoals Airport means a designated portion of land approximately 305 feet wide by 2,173 feet long and as platted on the Mystic Castle Section and Forest Hills Section plat and map. This airport and surrounding airspace to 1,200 feet AGL is in Class G uncontrolled airspace.

    Runway means the maintained land area approximately 50 feet wide by 2,000 feet long used for aircraft takeoff and landing. The runways are identified as 2, 20 degrees and 20, 200 degrees. The maximum elevation is approximately 860 feet above mean seal level (MSL).

    Taxiway means the land area reserved for aircraft movement from hangars and tie-down area to and from the runway.

    Tie-down area means two strips of land between the runway and the adjacent side property lines, as shown on the airport layout plan in the office of the city.
